Transit mobile app

IBM Pass - A congested city needed mobility
A social transit system to help Mobile World Congress attendees navigate Barcelona’s overcrowded streets.
Smart bus stops gave updates on conference events & venue info.
Data insights, city hotspots, & conference schedules
We made Barcelona into a smart city, with a pop-up transit system during Mobile World Congress.
Every year close to 100,000 people descend on Barcelona tying the city up in traffic, frustration and missed opportunities. We wanted to make the conference all about real mobility, data, and value.
Smart buses Tweet their locations, so MWC attendants can by-pass traffic.
We took our annual budget and delivered something instead of advertising, we delivered transportation to those who needed it, and data to help them plan a smarter conference experience for themselves.
A mobile CMS enabled publishing systems powered the entire experience
We built a mobile CMS that allowed us to publish real time content to our digital bus stops; over the course of the week long conference we published well over 2,000 pieces of content, helping conference goers navigate the conference and stay ahead of the crowd.
Bringing life to the data
Mobile CMS templates that can be customized in real-time, projected at bus-stops, on the website, and in hotel lobbies.
We created a mobile CMS app for the content team to publish from in the field
The CMS (Content Management System) allowed us to stay ahead of the curve at the conference pushing content to the digital bus stops, web sites, and digital signage we had dotted across the city at key locations. Conference goer’s could see the latest news and organize their schedules based on the information we provided - we were ahead of the conference site, and could drop news from the panels, and post audience insights.
The CMS worked on mobile devices, so the content team to upload information in a few taps.
We also had an app for the tour bus guides to share updates on bus locations & schedules.
The digital bus stops updated less than 5 seconds from push.
Tour guides could also post information about tourist sites, restaurants, events, and help passengers plan their evenings.
